Obama announces fees on bailed out banks (January 15, 2010)
The US president has announced fees on the US banks that were bailed out in last years crisis. He has said that if they can afford to pay out big bonuses they can afford to pay back the American taxpayer. This will include UK banks that have an arm in the US.
Will Gordon Brown announce the same? Only time will tell especially as Alister Darlings recent tax on bonuses got such a slating from critics saying it would damage the UK banks as the talent would go overseas.
